A FEST TO REMEMBER

Written by: James Patacsil

The LSPU Cosplay Fest 2022 was a new, yet and much-awaited event in the university. Hosted by the College of Computer Studies’ Computer Club on December 10th, 2022, it was yet another push for the cosplay community and con-goers of San Pablo City, both for cosplayers within and outside of the Laguna State Polytechnic University.

A place to let loose and one for the books are some of the many phrases that best describe events like these, especially a Cosplay Festival of this scale in the university. Held at the university gym, the event had stalls, seats, and huge open spaces for cosplayers and con-goers to gather and take photos and highlights to bring home.

During September 2, 2022, the LSPU-SPCC Supreme Student Council hosted a cleanup project in which officers and volunteers from the College of Computer Studies took part. The Computer Club and Semicolon officers and colleagues were given the responsibility of organizing our clean-up effort at both the old Computer Club building and the new one on that particular day.

Prior to the clean-up drive, CCS students were tasked with organizing a brigade to relocate the equipment to the new facility. Apart from moving the equipment, the officers of the Computer Club and other volunteers also cleaned the new facility, which made it simpler for the clean-up drive participants to set up the spaces that would be used in both the new and the old laboratory building.

"KEYBOARD KO, KAIBIGAN KO"

Written by: Andrea Megan Cornejo

An insightful and thought-provoking heading, isn’t it?

There was a time that I wondered why keyboards are called keyboards. Is it true that keyboards attempt to placate that person’s spirit by saying, “You are alluring in your own way, don’t stress yourself out, I am here?” Would they tell you to just relax, take a step back, and appreciate what you have? What have you already accomplished in your life? What would happen if they could disclose our parents about all the audacious ideas we have?

I feel awkward because I think my keyboard is talking to me and there are a lot of complaints. This heading must have immediately caught your attention, and I must admit that the premise behind it gave me a chuckle as well. In fact, I kept thinking about how amazingly absurd the world would be if everyone could hear our innermost thoughts. You all must be pondering another intriguing incident, and ultimately it dawned to me as well. If all of my thoughts were genuinely the result of my negotiations with the keyboard itself, that would be so captivatingly amusing! If everything my cognitive processing is shared with its own language and thoughts it would be hilarious. A mere imagination, but nonetheless a beautiful idea, isn’t it?! It’s actually not as easy as it seems. Each distinct action has a corresponding and inescapably exclusive opposite response! So just let the ink of our minds serve as the medium for our thoughts.

Since you cannot express exactly what you are thinking and feeling without anyone knowing what you were saying, keyboards are probably the best secret keepers the world has to offer. They might even be able to reveal the kind of lives we live so I continue to express myself verbally through typing. As the keyboards knows everyone is cloak and dagger, that we cannot split anything with anyone, our completely bizarre imagery, our hallucinations, and all the cattish things we enact or express for other people.

And so, I wonder what if my keyboard could talk…

It’d probably tell my professor everything I feel about our subject or even my complaints.

It’d surely comfort me, every time I feel stressed to our acads.

It’d surely tell my professor “She doesn’t deserve this! Give her the grades she deserves!”.

It’d probably be teasing me to all the times that I cried every time I cram.

It’d surely, totally and undoubtedly tell me to stop overthinking and use my DELETE keys as fast as I could!!!

It’d surely wipe my tears out and tell me to not give up every time I encountered challenges along the way.

It’d surely complain about how much she got hurt every time I slap her when I’m mad or when I feel depressed.

And last but not the least, it’d probably be my best friend and my protector.

Keyboards function as self-assured individuals, not only listening but also typing as if they translate keys without discrimination or judgment. So, I assume everyone will be grateful to GOD that the keyboard is an electrical equipment that does not have feelings or a brain, since otherwise a mess would be made and a tremendous dispute or even a war may occur.

As I thought about it further, I discovered why keyboards are named keyboards. It’s not merely because of its literal meaning, in which different keys are arranged on a rectangular board, but also because each letter or number holds a key to someone else’s thoughts and ideas, and each has distinct uses and meanings.

Ponder how thrilled you would be if your keyboard could talk, how would you be with its story?

As a student, how does academic stress affect you?

– Given that I am a student who spends time both on my studies and extracurricular activities, I can say that academic stress affects me in terms of time management. There are times when I have trouble doing it simultaneously. For instance, whenever I come home from school, I need to do activities that are due that same day. I even have panic attacks sometimes and I think it is because I feel overwhelmed about what I should do first. Nevertheless, I think I am getting better when it comes to managing my time now.

What is/are your preferred method to cope with academic stress?

– The most effective thing that I do to cope up with academic stress is by watching movies or series. It helps me to calm down and it gives me a kind of comfort that I could not get by doing anything else
